November Vibes

The November wind invaded my kitchen with a swirl of cinnamon and gingerbread scent and left me feeling astonished as I put down the knife that I used for carving pumpkin heads for Halloween, My astonishment reached new levels when the postman rang and handed over two Xmas cards. I mean, is this some kind of a joke or what? After some hesitation I finally decided to go out and investigate in person. So I grabbed my coat and headed downtown to find out exactly what was happening. And once again I was astonished when I noticed the sound of Christmas Carols blaring from all corners of the city, and saw that stores were already full of Xmas presents and telegraph poles are heavily decorated with Xmas light bulbs. Hey, it’s only mid-november! I saw reindeer wearing tiny Norwegian boots as they were dancing in front of the mirror bulbs hung on the gigantic Xmas tree in the centre of town; they were apparently having fun, looking at their own reflections. I was feeling ever more nervous and I started walking faster and faster until I nearly knocked over a weary faced old man who just indifferently mumbled: „marry christmas to you, too…” So it goes. They just moved things ahead a little. I had that old „who cares” feeling when I headed back home but I suddenly realised that I was muttering the tone of an old christmas carol about „little Xmas, big Xmas” or something like that. By the time I got home I was already feeling great, whistling and singing under my breath; I immediately threw out the frightened looking pumpkin heads and started painting some eggs without hesitation. I took extra care when I prepared the Easter Bunny’s nest and when I was ready with the cooked ham I laid back and started smiling as I waited for the Easter egg hunters to arrive.

Well, the world is certainly spinning a bit faster these days but it makes sense to slow down a bit because November has a lot of goodies for us to discover! We simply could not survive without Anna’s book review for November, and Enikő will present us with the best films of the month. Peter, our Chef in the Chapter titled Peter’s Pan will give us an exclusive insight into making a very special kind of pastry.

The chilly November evenings will be turned into real hot stuff by Márk Bogár, the youngest chili grower of the country who gave us an exclusive interview in which he told us about the beginnings of his family business, his work, his favourite type of chili pepper and lots of other interesting things.

Come and join us, happy November vibes to all of you!

Tartsatok velünk novemberben is.
